Packed House in Attendance

In his 26+ years with Congregation Etz Chaim, Michael Greenspan has given so much joy to others through his music, whether as the Cantorial Soloist for our Shabbat and High Holiday services, or representing the Synagogue in outside concerts, or in rare occasions, as this one was, in solo concert right here at Etz Chaim.

A large crowd gathered to enjoy Michael's music. Rabbi Noah Kitty had to mobilize the round-up of additional seating when it became apparent that the audience would be a large one. Many were from the community at large, attesting to Michael's popularity and broad-based appeal.

The concert was held Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2011, at Congregation Etz Chaim, 1881 NE 26th Street, Wilton Manors, FL 33305.

Retrospective Concert Celebrates the Artist's Many Musical Facets

In addition to performing songs from his long career at Etz Chaim, Michael also discussed his approach to and use of a wide range of musical genres and styles in his repertoire. Each type of music has its own merits and difficulties in using it to best suit the mood and circumstances of the occasion in which he performs it. He also shared some personal stories, reminiscences, and photos from his past.

Michael was dressed in his favored attire for his concerts: black shirt and pants, and a black Greek sailor's cap, all of which showed off his faithful accordion to great advantage.

The post-concert refreshments included a cake that read, simply but appropriately, "Thank You Michael."
